Blood Magic?

To countdown to the #200wordRPG contest (which i’m unnervingly excited about), I’ll be posting a 200 word RPG each week until the contest opens!

Most players are boy and girl soldiers from the HLC.  Tomorrow, there’s fierce battle with GLR forces. Tonight, the soldiers play an RPG with their Commander (a player), using a scavenged book.

Grab a random, lusciously-illustrated RPG manual.

COMMANDER:  Lead your soldiers through an otherworldly story, using pictures from the book to conjure characters/environments (which you’ll control).  Acting on soldiers’ input, describe a vivid, sensate world (touch, taste, feel).

SOLDIERS:  Portray fantastical characters from the book’s pictures.

SOLDIERS:  Between the Commander’s narrations, tell about things your soldier personally experienced that evoke similar feelings/senses (warmth radiating from a flame elemental may remind you of the heat from a village you torched).  While you speak, any character can move freely between the world of the memory you’re describing and that of the Commander’s story.

COMMANDER:  While your soldiers jaunt between worlds, cut them (the characters) and use blood magic* to heighten their experiences.  Take over the stories your soldiers are telling. Make them feel invincible. Work enemies (GLR, rival militias) into the tales as fodder.

After all soldiers experience blood magic, end.

Epilogue: Soldiers describe the results of the battle with GLR.
